In the cause of female education, especially the
education of adults, the efforts of Prof. D. K. Karve
on the one hand and of Mr. G. K. Devdhar on the
other are commendable. Prof. Karve's tiny little colory
of 30 years ago has now developed into a full-fledged
University for Indian Women. Its special feature is
that the medium of instruction is the vernacular and
the aim of adapting girls' curriculum to their special
needs and conditions and of retaining the simplicity
of Indian style of living is steadily kept in view.'
“ આ ઇલાકામાંનાં જે ઘણાં મંડળે। તે સંસ્થાએાએ સ્ત્રીએના શિક્ષણ
તથા ઉન્નતિના કાર્ય માં મેાટી મદદ કરી છે, તેમાં પૂનાની સેવાસદન સાસાઇટી
અને ભારતવર્ષીય મહિલાવિદ્યાપી એ સંસ્થાએ મુખ્ય છે. મધ્ય વિભાગના
એજ્યુકેશનલ ઇન્સ્પેકટર લખે છે કે,

સ્ત્રીએાના-ખાસ કરીને પ્રૌઢ સ્ત્રીએના-શિક્ષણના પ્રેા. ડી. કે. કર્યું
અને શ્રી જી. કે. દેવધરના પ્રયત્ને પ્રશંસનીય છે. પ્રેા. કર્વેના ૩૦ વર્ષ પૂર્વેના
નાનકડા વસાહતને હાલ પૂર્ણતા પામેલી હિંદી સ્ત્રીઓની યુનિવર્સિટીનું
સ્વરૂપ મળ્યું છે. માતૃભાષાને એધભાષા તરીકે ઉપયેાગ, સ્ત્રીઓની ખાસ
જરૂરીઆત ને સ્થિતિને અનુકૂળ અભ્યાસક્રમ અને હિંદી રહેણીકરણી કાયમ
રાખવાનેા પ્રયાસ એ આ વિદ્યાપીઠનાં ખાસ લક્ષણ છે.
આંધ્ર યુનિવાટીની સેનેટની તા. ૫ મી ડિસેમ્બર ૧૯૨૭ના રાજ
ભરાયેલી સભામાં નીચેને હરાવ પસાર થયા હતેાઃ—
“ That the Senate request the Academic Council
to consider the desirability of having separate courses
of study, as alternative to the present courses,
women and to formulate proposals for giving effect
to this policy, if it approves.

“ હાલના શિક્ષણક્રમને સમાંતર સ્ત્રીએ માટે જુદા વૈકલ્પિક અભ્યાસ-
ક્રમ નક્કી કરવાની ઇષ્ટતાનેા વિચાર કરવાની અને તેમ કરવું યેાગ્ય લાગે તે
તે અમલમાં મૂકવાની દૃષ્ટિએ સૂચના કરવાની સેનેટ તે મંડળનેવિનંતિ કરે છે.’
