આખા ઉપવાસમાં ઈશ્વરની દોરવણી પહેલે જ દિવસે તેમણે આપેલાં ભાષણામાંથી એકનો તરજુમા કરી મહાદેવે મને વાંચી સંભળાવ્યા. ભારે ઉત્તેજક ચીજ હતી. આ દિવસોમાં ઈશ્વરના પ્રેમની બીજી પણ ઘણી નિશાનીઓ મળી. આખા પ્રસંગમાં ઈશ્વરની દોરવાની હતી એ વિષે મને કદી શંકા ઊઠી નથી.
- પણ મોટું કામ તે હજી બાકી છે. મને લાગે છે હજુ તમારું સ્થાન ત્યાં જ છે.”
એગથાને : "I know I gave you all a most anxious time. It was inevitable. It was all God's doing. I could trace His hands in everything that happened during those days."
- હું જાણું છું કે તમને બધાને મે બહુ ચિંતા કરાવી. પણ એ અનિવાર્ય હતું. એ બધુ ઈશ્વરનું કામ હતું. એ દિવસોમાં જે બન્યું તે દરેક ચીજમાં ઈશ્વરનો હાથ હું જોઈ શકતા હતા.”
બેલગામથી આવેલ પત્રના જવાબમાં : "I thank you for your letter and the Prasadam. Please thank all the merchants for the Akhand Saptah. I have no doubt that all such spiritual effort helped the great manifestation of the fast week." “ તમારા કાગળ તથા પ્રસાદ માટે આભાર. અખંડ સપ્તાહ માટે બધા વેપારીઓને હું આભાર માનું છું. ઉપવાસના અઠવાડિયા દરમિયાન જે ઉત્સાહ પ્રગટ્યો તેમાં આવાં બધાં આધ્યાત્મિક કાર્યોની મદદ હતી એ વિષે મને શંકા નથી.” મિસિસ લિંડસેને : “ Thanks for your sweet letter. Yes, it would be tragic if God was accessible only to the learned. My feeling coincides with your washerwoman's. There was once a scientific expedition in search of God. The scientists are reported to have come to India and to have found God not in the homes of Brahmins nor in the palaces of kings, but they found Him in a hut of an untouchable. Hence my cry to God to admit me to the untouchable fold. After fifty years of trial they found me worthy to be so admitted. And I rejoice over the event."
